Inspect before enabling
A bridge exposes an application’s capabilities to a coding client. Start with read-only inspection. Confirm the intended project and application instance before permitting edits.
Your client → local MCP host → application bridge → selected project
Grant access deliberately
Choose explicit project folders. Avoid granting access to unrelated documents or credentials. Review the bridge’s network binding and keep local-only endpoints on loopback unless a documented remote workflow is required.
A model does not gain filesystem or network access just because its weights are local. Access comes from tools and processes that execute actions.
Make changes reviewable
Prefer small edits, application undo support and version control. Test changes in a development project before applying them to important work. Keep logs useful without publishing personal file paths, tokens or proprietary project names.
Diagnose the correct layer
If the model replies but a tool fails, inspect the MCP host and application bridge. If no model reply arrives, inspect the inference engine and its endpoint first. These are different failure paths.
